| Benefits of our Saturday programmes | ||
| For each
subject, students are taught by the same teacher every week. In addition
to our programme of study for each student, our teachers also expect
them to bring any problem they may have from school.
Students build up trust in each subject teacher over the course of the academic year and this helps to reinforce their confidence. We do not operate every Saturday of the year. We have classes during term time only so students can have their school holidays off, including half terms. This also helps families to plan their usual holidays through the year without interruption. Large numbers of young people are not achieving the grades that they are capable of achieving in Key Subjects at GCSE and A level. Our ultimate aim is to put an end to low grades. We will ensure that all aspects of the examination boards’ specifications (syllabi) are covered and train students on Examination Techniques. In the last few academic years, a very high proportion of our students have passed with grades A* to C. We provide
for: GCSE, AS, A2 and KS3 SAT. |

GCSE Science - Double, Single & Triple Award |
||
There
are about 10 students in each class. Each Science session covers Biology,
Chemistry and Physics, allocating roughly the same amount of time to
each of the three. As the vast majority of students in the country are
taking the Double Award Science paper, lessons target the Double Award
Higher Tier. However, students sitting Separate Science (Triple Award)
GCSE examinations are offered additional time in order to cover the
extra material they require (an extra charge is made for this). Students
sitting the single award and Foundation Tier also benefit. Practical
demonstrations of scientific experiments are simulated with computer
software. The software in use has interactive activities and students
find it very stimulating as it aids the learning process. |
||
Mathematics |
||
| In Maths lessons, the teacher spends time on areas in which students often encounter problems; students are then set work to do and time is spent on helping individuals to grasp concepts that he or she finds challenging. The Higher Tier students sit separately from the Intermediate Tier students and are given separate work to do. Foundation Tier examination candidates are again catered for separately. | ||
| English Language & Literature | ||
| The English Language classes run along the same principle as Maths classes, with emphasis on areas of weakness for individual students. | ||
| A
Level |
||
We
offer both AS and A2 classes |
||
September
to June Saturday Programme |
||
Our AS
and A2 classes are aimed at sixth form students who want to achieve
good grades in the subjects they are studying in school/college. Concepts
are explained with greater clarity and examination methods and techniques
are practised frequently. A session for each subject lasts for 2 hours.
Subjects covered at the moment are: Mathematics, English Language, English
Literature, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. For Physics, Chemistry,
Biology and Mathematics, most of our AS/A2 students are sitting the
Edexcel and OCR examinations, so lessons are focussed on these two.
We do, however, use past examination papers for all the three main examination
boards - AQA, Edexcel and OCR. Most of our English AS/A2 students study
AQA and Edexcel. |

January
Exam Preparation for AS & A2 |
||
| This is
to help year 12/Lower sixth students who are sitting AS modules for
the first time and the upper sixth/Y13 students who are resiting AS
modules in January. It runs from October to January - including sessions
during the Christmas holiday. |

Key
stage 3 (Students in Y8 and Y9) |
||
Although
the government has put an end to the SATS examination as an external
examination, most schools still conduct this examination internally.
The result is used to allocate sets to student when they begin GCSE
the following year. It is the first major examination that students
sit in secondary school. It helps to prepare young people for GCSE.
Revision classes are held to help students in Y8 and some in Y9, as
they are preparing to sit their KS3 SAT exam in the first week of May,
early in the summer semester. Some parents are happy to send their son
or daughter in Y7 or Y8 along to our SAT revision classes. This is because
it not only helps to prepare them early; it also helps to improve their
confidence in class, in these vital subjects. By the time the students
sit their Y9 SAT, they are familiar with how questions are asked in
the KS3 SAT examinations and are better equipped to answer questions
in the way the examiners expect. |

and peace of mind |

All our
teachers are teaching, or have taught in
a British secondary school very recently. They are familiar with the
requirements of the National Curriculum for: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry,
Biology, English Language and English Literature. More importantly,
they have years of experience in assessing and marking examination papers.
All our teachers possess the Enhanced Disclosure from the CRB (Criminal Records Bureau). |
