| What we are all about at Excel in Science | ||
| Excel in Science is here to make a real difference to young people’s examination grades in key subjects at KS2, KS3, GCSE, AS and A2 level. Many students, mostly through little or no fault of their own, are underachieving. Excel in Science recognised that too many students are simply not making the grades they are capable of. So we decided to create the necessary support to allow them to achieve their potential. We established Excel in Science to provide extra classes
for students at every stage of secondary education. The objective is
to help students achieve good grades at GCSE and A-level. Following our success at KS3, KS4, AS and A2, there has been popular demand from parents for us to admit KS2 students. We are now expanding to the primary school sector, providing high quality tutoring for KS2 students to improve their school performance in the key subjects of English, Maths and Science. The courses we offer to support students in achieving to their full potential] are: Weekend Classes (usually a Saturday school), Easter Revision, Half-Term Revision, Christmas-New Year Holiday Revision, Summer Booster classes and Seminar Sessions (one-to-one classes). |

| Our Mission Our purpose is to help young people achieve the best grades they are capable of in Key Subjects

| Why the need for Revision Classes or a Saturday School? Excel in Science exists to combat underachievement among young people. After many years of teaching in both state and private schools, we have seen that a very high percentage of young people are neither fulfilling their full potential nor achieving the GCSE and A level grades they are capable of achieving. Below are the challenges we have identified and how we tackle them: Challenges Today’s large class sizes make it a real challenge for teachers to stretch the most able students while giving the necessary help and support to children working at a different pace. The difficulty faced by schools in recruiting appropriate teaching staff means not all pupils in the classroom can be motivated and kept on task. Our Solutions
On registering at our Saturday classes, all students sit a diagnostic test for each subject. From the result of the test and observation during classes within six weeks of attending, we build a profile of each student. We are then able to predict the grade that the student is likely to achieve in each subject. At GCSE level, we will guarantee this grade on the provision that: the student studies with us for the whole academic year; carries out a high proportion of their assignments; revises thoroughly and arrives punctually and attends a certain number of lessons. If the student abides by these rules and still fails to achieve the grade we guarantee, we will refund the full fee for that particular subject. We are very proud of our record of achievement. We have been operating from City University since 2005 and from Greenwich University since 2007. We are currently expanding: Shirley, near Croydon and Crawley in West Sussex have recently been added to our list of centres. |
